Εγκαταστάσεις Κολεγίου

Το Κολέγιο Akademia βρίσκεται στη Δερύνεια, κοντά στις πιο δημοφιλείς τουριστικές περιοχές της Κύπρου. Το Κολέγιο βρίσκεται στο ισόγειο του κτηρίου έχοντας εύκολη πρόσβαση σε ένα καθαρό, ασφαλές και άνετο περιβάλλον για τους σπουδαστές και το προσωπικό.

Η Βιβλιοθήκη

Βρίσκεται στο ισόγειο του Κολεγίου σε ένα ήσυχο χώρο, ειδικά σχεδιασμένο για να προσφέρει στους σπουδαστές ένα άνετο και καλά εξοπλισμένο μέρος, ικανό να ανταποκρίνεται στις ακαδημαϊκές απαιτήσεις και στις επαγγελματικές ανάγκες του προσωπικού. Η βιβλιοθήκη περιλαμβάνει ένα μεγάλο αριθμό διδακτικού και μη διδακτικού υλικού, όπως βιβλία, επιστημονικές εφημερίδες, περιοδικά, κασέτες και CD. Eίναι σχεδιασμένη στο να παρέχει χωρητικότητα περίπου 6 καθισμάτων. Παρέχει σύνδεση στο διαδίκτυο, φωτοτυπικό μηχάνημα και σαρωτή (scanner) και είναι 5 φορές την εβδομάδα ανοικτή. Οι ώρες λειτουργίας είναι από Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή από τις 9 το πρωί έως τις 7 το απόγευμα και το Σάββατο από τις 9 το πρωί έως τις 2 το μεσημέρι.

Η βιβλιοθήκη έχει 2 υπολογιστές οι οποίοι μπορούν να χρησιμοποιηθούν από το βιβλιοθηκονόμο και τους σπουδαστές για να έχουν πρόσβαση στο διαδικτυακό κατάλογο της βιβλιοθήκης του Κολεγίου (KOHA-library.akc.ac.cy), σε διαδικτυακά βιβλία και καταλογογραφήσεις επιστημονικών εφημερίδων, (DOAJ, DOAB, University of Cyprus Library, Cyprus University of Technology Library, Collective Catalogue of Cypriot Libraries, Google Scholar).

Ο βιβλιοθηκονόμος μας μαζί με το διοικητικό προσωπικό προσφέρουν καθοδήγηση και στήριξη στους σπουδαστές. Επί του παρόντος, το Κολέγιο αναβαθμίζει τα βιβλία του και τις καταλογογραφήσεις  επιστημονικών εφημερίδων των πιο πρόσφατων εκδόσεων. Η συλλογή βιβλίων καλύπτει ένα ευρύ φάσμα τομέων: φιλοξενίας, επιχειρήσεων, πληροφορικής, λογιστικής, ανθρωπιστικών, κοινωνικών και λογοτεχνίας.

Το Κολέγιο είναι μέλος της Κυπριακής Ένωσης Βιβλιοθηκονόμων-Επιστημόνων Πληροφόρησης που στηρίζουν και βοηθούν στην ανάπτυξη των μαθησιακών πηγών. Επιπλέον, η βιβλιοθήκη είναι μέλος του Πανεπιστημίου της Βιβλιοθήκης Κύπρου επιτρέποντας στους σπουδαστές και στη σχολή να έχουν πρόσβαση στις πηγές.

Το Κολέγιο έχει συνδρομές με την EBSCO και την UNWTO βάση ηλεκτρονικών δεδομένων οι οποίες είναι ευρέως γνωστές στο ακαδημαϊκό περιβάλλον παρέχοντας στο ακαδημαϊκό προσωπικό και στους σπουδαστές πρόσβαση στις πιο πρόσφατες επιστημονικές και ερευνητικές δημοσιεύσεις, άρθρα και βιβλία. Tεχνολογικές Εγκαταστάσεις

Εντός των τεχνολογικών εγκαταστάσεων βρίσκεται το εργαστήριο υπολογιστών, στο ισόγειο, που είναι διαθέσιμο στους σπουδαστές, από Δευτέρα έως Παρασκευή, ώστε να προσφέρεται πλήρη στήριξη στα μαθήματά τους και στην ολοκλήρωση των απαιτούμενων εργασιών τους. Οι υπολογιστές έχουν εγκαταστημένο το Oracle Hospitality Suite 8 για τη διδασκαλία του αντίστοιχου μαθήματος και την εκπαίδευση των σπουδαστών.

Οι σπουδαστές του Κολεγίου Akademia έχουν το δικό τους ηλεκτρονικό ταχυδρομείο και πρόσβαση στην ύλη των μαθημάτων μέσω του G Suite πλατφόρμα εκπαίδευσης που παρέχεται από την Google και τη Moodle όπου έχουν πρόσβαση σε όλο το εκπαιδευτικό υλικό, ακαδημαϊκή στήριξη και επικοινωνία. Οι σπουδαστές μπορούν να φέρουν το δικό τους φορητό υπολογιστή στο Κολέγιο και να συνδεθούν με το wifi του Κολεγίου. Το δίκτυο υπολογιστή ελέγχεται και αναβαθμίζεται συνεχώς για να προσφέρει σύγχρονες λειτουργίες με σύγχρονα λογισμικά προγράμματα και ό,τι άλλο χρειάζεται για την κάλυψη των αναγκών του Κολεγίου.

Εγκαταστάσεις Διδασκαλίας

Το προσωπικό του Κολεγίου χρησιμοποιεί ένα ευρύ φάσμα υπηρεσιών που περιλαμβάνουν τις πιο σύγχρονες Τεχνολογίες Πληροφορικής και Υπολογιστών. Οι αίθουσες διδασκαλίας είναι εξοπλισμένες με προτζέκτορες, διαδραστικούς πίνακες και άλλες υποδομές.

Αίθουσες Διαλέξεων

Όλες οι αίθουσες διαλέξεων του Κολεγίου δεν είναι μόνο εξοπλισμένες με ασπροπίνακες και τεχνολογίες αιχμής, όπως προτζέκτορες, αλλά επίσης με θερμαινόμενο κλιματισμό εξασφαλίζοντας μια ευχάριστη ατμόσφαιρα έτσι ώστε να εξασφαλίζονται οι καλύτερες μέθοδοι εκπαίδευσης. Η βασική αίθουσα διδασκαλίας είναι ακουστικά διαμορφωμένη για να εξασφαλίζει ένα πιο αρμονικό μαθησιακό περιβάλλον τόσο για τους καθηγητές όσο και για τους σπουδαστές.

Φοιτητική Καφετέρια

Η καφετέρια βρίσκεται στο ισόγειο στην κύρια είσοδο και είναι διαθέσιμη σε όλους τους σπουδαστές και το προσωπικό για πρωινό, ένα γρήγορο σνακ ανάμεσα στα μαθήματα, το μεσημεριανό γεύμα ή απλά για συνάντηση, χαλάρωση και κοινωνικοποίηση σε ένα φιλόξενο περιβάλλον. Είναι εξοπλισμένη με καφετιέρα και μηχάνημα αυτόματης παρασκευής. Οι σπουδαστές μπορούν επίσης να φέρουν το δικό τους πρωινό, μεσημεριανό γεύμα εάν το επιθυμούν. Υπάρχουν επίσης σούπερ μάρκετ, αρτοποιεία και καταστήματα που βρίσκονται σε κοντινή απόσταση από το κολέγιο προσφέροντας περισσότερες επιλογές.

Διοίκηση

Τα γραφεία της Διοίκησης βρίσκονται στο ισόγειο και είναι πλήρως επιπλωμένα, θερμαινόμενα με κλιματισμό και εξοπλισμένα με όλες τις αναγκαίες και σύγχρονες εγκαταστάσεις πληροφορικής, όπως προσωπικούς υπολογιστές, εκτυπωτές, σαρωτές, κτλ. 

Γραφείο Καθηγητών

Το γραφείο καθηγητών βρίσκεται στο ισόγειο και είναι πλήρως επιπλωμένο, θερμαινόμενο, κλιματιζούμενο και εξοπλισμένο με προσωπικούς υπολογιστές και προτζέκτορες.

Χώροι Στάθμευσης

• Το Κολέγιο παρέχει εξουσιοδοτημένο χώρο στάθμευσης για όλους τους σπουδαστές και το προσωπικό στο πίσω μέρος του κτηρίου με επιπλέον χώρο σε αρκετά κοντινή απόσταση (100μ).

• Παροχή χώρου στάθμευσης για άτομα με ειδικές ανάγκες και πρόσβαση στο κτήριο.

• Παρακαλώ να παρκάρετε με προσοχή και σωστά, σεβόμενοι όλους τους χώρους που παρέχονται.

• Αποφεύγετε να παρκάρετε σε λωρίδες κυκλοφορίας ή σε άλλoυς χώρους περιορισμένης πρόσβασης (π.χ. προσβάσιμες περιοχές, πυρασφάλιες, πεζοδρόμια, κτλ.), διότι ενέχονται κίνδυνοι ή άλλες μορφές βλάβης.

• Αποφεύγετε να παρκάρετε σε χώρους για άτομα με ειδικές ανάγκες εάν δεν έχετε την κατάλληλη άδεια.

• Αποφεύγετε να παρκάρετε στα πεζοδρόμια ή σε άλλους κοινόχρηστους χώρους που μπορεί να αποτελούν δημόσιο κίνδυνο ή να προκαλέσουν κάποια βλάβη.

• Οι χώροι στάθμευσης είναι χωρίς επίβλεψη, για αυτόν το λόγο να παρκάρετε σε όλους τους χώρους με δική σας ευθύνη.

• Το Κολέγιο δε φέρει καμία ευθύνη για ατυχήματα ή άλλες τυχόν ζημιές που μπορεί να προκληθούν στους χώρους στάθμευσης.

Διαμονή

Το Κολέγιο Akademia μπορεί να διευκολύνει τους σπουδαστές έτσι ώστε να βρουν ιδιωτική διαμονή εάν το επιθυμούν, με παροχή βοήθειας από τοπικές κτηματομεσιτικές εταιρείες.

Αθλητικό Κέντρο

Το Κολέγιο Akademia παρέχει τη δυνατότητα άθλησης στους σπουδαστές σε συνεργασία με τοπικά γυμναστήρια σε πολύ κοντινή απόσταση από τις εγκαταστάσεις του Κολεγίου. Το Κολέγιο συνεργάζεται με τον Αθλητικό Όμιλο Αναγέννηση παρέχοντας στους σπουδαστές μας τη δυνατότητα να χρησιμοποιούν τις εγκαταστάσεις ποδοσφαίρου, βόλεϊ και μπιλιάρδου. College Facilities

Akademia College is situated in Deryneia, next to the main and most popular tourist areas in Cyprus.  

The college is located in a ground floor building offering easy access as well as a clean, safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.

Library

The Library is located on the ground floor of the college building situated in a quiet area, designed to provide students with a comfortable and well-equipped site, able to meet their academic requirements as well as the professional needs of the personnel. The library includes a large amount of curricular and co-curricular materials such as books, journals, magazines, tapes and CDs. The Library is designed to provide a seating capacity of approximately 6 seats. It provides internet connection, as well as a photocopier and a scanner.

The library is open 6 days a week and the hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The Library has 2 computers to be used by the librarian and students for accessing the College online library catalogue (KOHA – library.akc.ac.cy) and online books and journal databases (DOAJ, DOAB, University of Cyprus Library, Cyprus University of Technology Library, Collective Catalogue of Cypriot Libraries, Google Scholar).

Our librarian together with the administration staff, provide guidance and support to the students. Currently the College is updating the textbooks and journals to the latest editions. The book section covers a variety of areas such as, hospitality, business, computer science, accounting, humanities, social sciences and literature.

The College is a member of the Cyprus Association of Librarian and Information Scientists, who are supporting and assisting with the development of our learning resources. Additionally, our library is a member of the University of Cyprus Library allowing our students and faculty access to their learning resources.

The College has subscriptions with EBSCO and UNWTO electronic databases, which are widely known in the academic environment, thus, providing the academic staff and students with access to the latest scientific and research publications, articles and textbooks.

IT Facilities

IT facilities offer computer laboratory on the ground floor which is available to students, from Monday to Friday, in order to provide them with full assistance on their course and for completion of any course work required. The computers have the latest Oracle Hospitality Suite 8 installed for the teaching of relevant course and student training.  

Students at Akademia College have their own college e-mail accounts and have online access to all course materials through G Suite for Education platform provided by Google and also Moodle for access to all learning materials, academic support and communication. Students may bring their own laptop to the College to connect to the wifi network. The computer network is constantly being monitored and upgraded to offer modern computing facilities for up-to-date software applications, as well as others covering as many aspects of the college as possible.

Teaching Facilities

The College teaching staff employs a range of facilities designed to include the latest ICT facilities. Teaching rooms are equipped with projectors, interactive whiteboards and other infra-structure.

Lecture Rooms

All lecture rooms of the college are not only equipped with white-boards and state-of-the-art technology such as projectors, but they are also heated and air-conditioned establishing a comfortable atmosphere in order to ensure the best methods of education. The main lecture room has been acoustically enhanced to ensure a more harmonious learning environment for both lecturers and students.

Student Cafeteria

The cafeteria is on the ground floor at the main entrance and it is available to all students and staff for breakfast, a quick snack in between classes, lunch or just meeting, relaxing and socializing in an accommodating environment with a cup of coffee. It is equipped with coffee and vending machines. Students can also bring their own breakfast/lunch at the cafeteria if they wish. There are also supermarkets, bakeries and shops located near the college offering more choice.

Administration

Administration offices are located on the ground floor of the college building, comprising administration, library as well as offices equipped with all necessary and up-to-date IT facilities such as printers, scanners, personal computers etc.

Faculty Office 

The faculty office is situated on the ground floor fully furnished, heated, air-conditioned and equipped with personal computers, whiteboards and projectors.

Parking Facilities

• The College provides approved parking for all students and staff at the rear of the building and with additional space a short walk away (100m). See Appendix 12 - Parking Plan

• There is also provision for disable parking and access to the building.

• Please park in a civilized and orderly way respecting all spaces provided.

• Avoid parking in traffic lanes or other restricted areas (ie access areas, fire points, pedestrian ways, etc) that might cause potential hazards or other forms of damage.

• Avoid parking in disability spaces, unless you are a holder of the appropriate permit.

• Avoid parking on pavements or other municipal areas that might cause potential public hazards or other damage.

• Parking areas are usually unattended, therefore, parking in all designated areas is at your own risk.

• The College bears no responsibility for any accidents or damages that may occur in any of the parking facilities.

Accommodation

ACC Akademia College can facilitate the students in order to find their own private accommodation should the wish, by providing assistance with local real estate companies.

Sports Centre

Akademia College is able to arrange for the provision of work out facilities for the students in cooperation with local sport gyms very close to the main college building. The college also has a collaboration agreement with Anagennisi Athletic Club for students to use their facilities which include football and volleyball fields and billiard tables. Dr Stella Zorpa has a long and established educational career in lecturing and lecturer training.
She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from the National University of Athens; a MSc in Educational Leadership from the Open University of Cyprus and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Saint Louis University. Stella is the Programme Coordinator, teaches Business Communication and Professional English modules, and during her many years teaching and training previously worked at state schools in Cyprus and Greece and various private educational institutions. She also worked at the British Council Cyprus for over 15 years as both an English teacher and an IELTS trainer for teachers.
Stella’s impact lies in her dedicated involvement in shaping the college's program and syllabi. As a Program Coordinator at Akademia College she studies and develops the curriculum, ensuring that the learning objectives align with the topics taught in each course. Stella organises training sessions for the faculty that explore contemporary issues affecting education. New and existing faculty members are supported and directed under her mentorship, as she skilfully navigates them through the difficulties of pedagogy and institutional ethos. Having attended a number of training sessions and seminars held by DIPAE (The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education) allow her expertise to excel in areas such as plagiarism prevention, the implementation of flipped classrooms, and the difficulties and variations of effective online teaching. In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, Stella ensures that her peers stay up-to-date with the latest trends and methodologies.

Dr Marilena Paraskeva is an Associate Researcher at Akademia College. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from Birkbeck College, University of London (UK), an MSc in Computational Linguistics & Formal Grammar from King’s College London (UK), and a BA in Greek Philology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). She is a Special Scientist at the University of Cyprus and a Scientific Collaborator at the European University Cyprus. She has previously held the posts of Visiting Lecturer and Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of Cyprus, and Local Consultant at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Cyprus. She has published, among others, in the ‘International Journal of Multilingualism’ and ‘Sociolinguistic Studies’ on code-switching and language and gender. She has presented and talked extensively on linguistics and has also been invited to participate in formal peer reviews on topics relating to bilingualism and multilingualism. Dr Paraskeva was presented with an ‘Exceptional award' during her doctoral studies, in recognition of the student's research progress and contribution to the activities run by the Department of Applied Linguistics and Communication at Birkbeck College, University of London (UK).

Louis Mouzourides is a hospitality lecturer with many years of working experience in the industry. He holds a Hotel Management Diploma from the Swiss School of Hotel & Tourism Management. After graduating he began his career as Public Relations Officer, Food & Beverage Manager and Hotel Manager. He teaches Front Office Management and Housekeeping Management at the college. Louis brings his valuable work experience of the last 25+ years and industry know-how into the classroom giving real-world examples to the students and the opportunity for them to practise their skills in a hotel environment. He is also an active member of several college committees and an enthusiastic member of the hiking club.

Costas Pishias is our expert in Food & Beverage and teaches both F&B Management and F&B Cost Control at the college. He is active in both national and international associations, exhibitions and competitions. After working in the hospitality industry, he graduated with a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management jointly awarded by the Northern Council for Further Education (NCFE). He has worked in the local tourism industry for the last 40 years in the positions of Bar Manager and Food & Beverage Manager. Costas is the President and founder of the Cyprus Bartenders Association, which amongst other training programmes & events, organises the annual Bar Show that has many informative seminars, cocktail competitions and exhibitor networking. He is also a member and a certified trainer of the International Bartenders Association (IBA).

Katerina Soulioti is our lecturer specialising in Guest Relations and Event Management modules. With 25 years of experience as a Public Relations Manager and Weddings & Events Manager, she brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the classroom. She brings her enthusiasm and love for excellent guest relations to inspire our students. With a Higher Diploma in Hotel Management and a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Katerina combines her academic qualifications with extensive professional expertise to provide comprehensive instruction and mentorship for our students.

Pavlos Klonis is our Hotel Information Systems lecturer. With a Master's degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor's degree in Computer & Information Sciences, Pavlos combines his academic knowledge with practical experience. His professional background includes roles as a Senior Development Manager, Project Manager, Software Developer/Database Administrator, and IT Manager. Pavlos's proficiency in databases, programming languages, and IT operations equips him to impart comprehensive knowledge to students. With his strong educational foundation, hands-on experience, and dedication to mentorship, Pavlos ensures that students gain a thorough understanding of hotel information systems and their practical applications.

Christina Archontous is a fully qualified practising school psychologist with a Bachelor in Psychology and a Masters in Educational Psychology and holds a certified instructor status for John Maxwell Team and the John Maxwell Method DISC Report.  She has experience as a school psychologist with children and adolescent assessment of learning, behavioural, emotional and developmental difficulties and provides personal development coaching sessions in private practice. Christina teaches the module of Personal and Professional Development at the college as well as providing student welfare support services at the college for any student that requires more specialised intervention.

Georgios Motsios has valuable experience in the hospitality sectors of both Greece and Cyprus. After graduating with a Bachelor of Tourist Enterprises Administration and a postgraduate course in Human Resource Management, he began his career working in the hotel industry of Greece as F&B Restaurant Manager, Operations & HR Manager, attaining Hotel General Manager status. Alongside his career advancement he also taught at state and private vocational training institutes in the fields of hospitality and tourism. At Akademia College he teaches the Hospitality Marketing & Sales module.

Andros Karayiannis studied German and English literature in Germany, followed by studies in English literature in the UK and studied French literature in France. After completing his studies, he returned to Cyprus and graduated in International Relations & European Studies at Masters level. He worked as a recognized tour guide for the Cyprus Tourism Organisation in Greek, English, French and German languages, covering areas such as history, archaeology & civilization, folk culture, religion, anthropogeographic environment to name a few. He has also taught English and German languages in private and public schools and at university level. Andros has written many articles focusing on the tourism industry, wider political issues in Cyprus and problems that the young people face i.e., living in rural areas, access to education and employment prospects. He is also involved in many European programmes and projects.

Ivan Kovalenko is an accomplished lecturer with a solid academic background, holding a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Leicester. With nearly a decade of teaching experience as a Business Education Teacher, he specialises in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Marketing, Management, Statistics, Finance, Human Resources, and Law. Committed to continuous professional development, Ivan has acquired various certifications from seminars in education, business, and computer proficiency. Additionally, since 2020, he has served as the founder/owner of Imprint Marketing, showcasing his entrepreneurial endeavours in the marketing field. Beyond academia, Ivan brings a unique perspective shaped by his involvement in real estate and military service. Proficient in Greek, English, and Russian, he contributes to a diverse and well-rounded learning environment for his students.

Ioannis Kameris holds a Bachelor degree in Hospitality Management graduating from the University of Surrey in 2011. Along with his studies he followed other courses to receive certificates in Revenue Management (L1) and Hotel Revenue Management. He continued his studies in 2018 and 2021, receiving Professional Diplomas in Social Media Marketing and in Digital & Social Media Marketing. He has experience in the hotel industry where he has worked as a quality and branding coordinator, a procurement officer, a hotel operations manager and Food & Beverage Supervisor. Currently he is the Contracting and Revenue Manager in the Sunrise Hotels. He shows continuous self-development in both academic and industrial level which have helped him achieve his goals and become a well-established and successful Commercial Leader. Additionally, Ioannis speaks Greek, English and Bulgarian. 

Maria Kapnoula completed the Housekeeping Course at the Hotel and Catering Institute of Cyprus, in 1990. Since then, she has been attending different educational courses related to the hospitality industry, such as Health and Safety in Hotels, Food Allergies in catering units, Risk Assessment Analysis in working areas. Maria continued her studies in 2017 and received a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management from Northern Council (NCFC) UK in collaboration with Larnaca College. Maria has a long-standing experience in hotels working as an Executive Housekeeper. Maria brings her practical working knowledge of housekeeping to her lecturing, teaching Housekeeping Management.

Dimitris Tsoukkas spent his educational years in the United States, graduating in Hotel & Restaurant Administration at Bachelor level and Public Relations at Masters level from New York Institute of Technology. He gained valuable experience and insight in the international tourism and hospitality industry and attended a summer course at L’ École Hotelier in Switzerland as part of his studies. Dimitris was an Assistant Relations Officer for the Cyprus Tourism Organisation New York office, offering travel advice, assistance and attended trade shows to promote brand awareness of Cyprus as a tourist destination. When he returned to Cyprus, he managed his own restaurant business and worked in the hotel industry as F&B Manager and General Manager positions. Dimitris brings his practical working knowledge of the hospitality industry to his lecturing and his international tourism experience and insights.

Natalia Adamidou is a highly skilled Russian language tutor with a strong academic background and extensive work experience. With a BA in Russian Language and Literature, she possesses a solid foundation in language education. Natalia has taught at private institutes over the last 10 years, with expertise in preparing young students and adults for GCE/A LEVEL Exams and POUSHKIN Exams. Additionally, Natalia has worked as a Russian Translator for the National Police Service of the Republic of Cyprus, in real-time translation, playback recordings and for various documentation.

Anastasios Philippou holds the post of Lecturer for the Hotel Management course at Akademia College and is also the college’s Career Adviser. He studied Hotel and Tourist Administration at the International School of Tourism (Belgium) and has in-depth experience in many aspects of hotel management. Anastasios has lectured at colleges; consulted for tourism sector clients and has also delivered in-house training courses at 4 and 5-star hotels across the island in a wide range of industry topics. He has held numerous managerial positions in various departments of high-star hotels in Cyprus, including Sales and Marketing, Conferences and Incentives, and Food & Beverage. Anastasios has organised major tourism exhibitions around the world, as well as participating in them as a representative for the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (now the Deputy Tourism Ministry), and as part of the delegation for the many, local high-star hotels that he held positions in.

Diamanto Anastasiou is responsible for Student Support & Welfare Services at Akademia College. She holds an MA in Digital Media and Communication from the University of Nicosia (Cyprus); a Degree in Communication & Internet Studies from the Cyprus University of Technology (Cyprus), and completed a certification for Successful Digital Marketing Strategies to Increase Company Sales from the Social Space Academy (Cyprus). Diamanto has worked extensively in media and promotion as a print, online, TV and radio journalist, and as a Media, Marketing & Communications Officer for various publications, organisations and companies. She has worked on theatre productions in different roles, including production, music, organisation, media and promotion and presented the research of ‘Voices of Cyprus’ - the six-month project for the African Community of Cyprus through the programme “Supporting participatory Community Media and Citizen’s Media literacy in Cyprus”.

Maria Pashia is the Seminar Administrator at Akademia College and is responsible for liaising with hotels and restaurants on the island for the organisation of trade seminars held at the college. She studied Hotel Tourism from the Austro-American Society (Austria), and Hotel Travel and Tourism in Cyprus. Her professional repertoire features a broad range of positions held in the hotel and tourism industry and in private companies, including within the areas of accounting, sales and administration. Maria speaks Greek, English and German.

Our Memberships 

Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) is an independent organisation established in 2006, following a 2-year long project of the Travel Foundation that created a partnership of UK leading tour operators, environmental Cypriot NGOs, the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO), Cyprus Agents and small village producers, their communities and associations. CSTI aims to harness tourism demand (tour operators, agents) with the supply of tourism resources (small producers and their communities) so as to develop a sustainable approach to tourism in Cyprus. Offering a memorable experience for the tourist, this approach also provides a clear economic benefit to villages marginalized by mass tourism, while minimizing adverse socioeconomic and environmental impact. 

Our College is a member of Cyprus Association of Librarians – Information Scientists (CALIS), which was founded in 1984 under the name "Cyprus Association of Professional Librarians" (CAPL) and renamed in 2008 to reflect the contemporary environment in Information Science. It is the only valid and scientific association of the Librarians/Archivists/Information scientists in Cyprus (Societal Registration Number: 379). CALIS is a member of IFLA and EBLIDA.

Awards 

ACC Akademia College is the only Academic Institution which has been awarded by Green Offices in the co-operation with the Commissioner for the Environment. Green Offices is an eco-label for buildings and offices and is awarded to establishments that fulfil a list of environmental requirements that include energy and water consumption, waste management, the use of environmental friendly cleaning products, the quality of food and beverage, turning free spaces into green spaces and environmental education. Obtaining Green Offices Award demonstrates the establishments' efforts to develop an environmental friendly, sustainable and responsible business.
